This past week I was reading 1 Samuel, chapters 18-20. These chapters spoke about a man after God's heart (Acts 13:22); A man that loved the Lord. A man named David, and although he was not perfect, he was favored.
David, at this point, served in King Saul's courts. He would become Israel's next King, and the bible says that David completed every task assigned to him successfully. Knowing this, King Saul became very jealous of David, wasting no time trying to kill him. But, the Lord was with David.
During this time, Jonathan, King Saul's son, also loved David. He willingly handed David the throne because of how great their friendship was. Jonathan even helped David escape the schemes of his father, including murder.
Now, I don't know about you, but at first, I couldn't believe Jonathan went against his father. But then I realized something. When the Lord is with you, everything and everyone can come against you, yet no one can touch you. The Lord used Saul's very own son to help David.
You might find yourself in a similar situation today. For example, your boss seems to be working overtime to get you fired; God may use their very boss to promote you. Or, a family member is talking negatively about you; God may use their children to defend you.
Whatever your situation may be, rest in knowing that God got your back. Because of God, you will find favor in others around you, who will defend you, encourage you, and push you to keep going as Jonathan did for David.
Your job is to stay at the feet of Jesus; God's job is everything else.
